Paid Internship Opportunities For Point Blank Students

We all know that developing a sustainable career in the music industry can sometimes be tricky. This week we were approached by the non-profit organisation SEO London who, together with Creative Access, would like to offer our students some amazing opportunities for paid internships at three of the most fantastic music companies.

A bit of background…

SEO London is a not-for-profit organisation that since 2000 has helped more than 2,500 under-represented Black and other ethnic minority (‘BME’) undergraduates secure internships and graduate roles with the most prestigious investment banks, corporate law practices and professional service firms in the City as well as multinational corporates, and creative firms. They provide students with comprehensive mentoring, training and support services to ensure they maximise their chances of success.

Creative Access is a ground breaking partnership with leading firms in all of the major creative industries to provide ethnic minority students with access to paid internships and graduate careers in film, advertising, PR, performing arts, publishing, journalism, TV, music and radio.

SEO London, through its partnership with Creative Access, is actively recruiting for roles with creative industry leaders such as Cherry Red Records, Quietus Management, and One Media Publishing.

Role Marketing Intern
Role description
  •  Updating all social media platforms & website
  • Research
  • Helping in writing up press releases
  • Administrative support on registering music with PRS and PPL
  • Collating and logging all label information
  • Learn about the process of releasing music and promotion of artists
  • Maintaining and posting website orders
Applicant requirements
  • Organisational skills
  • Attention to detail, especially proof reading and editing text.
  • IT/Social Media knowledge
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the music we represent
  • Good communication skills

Role Digital and New Media Assistant
Role description
  • The role will be to assist the Digital & New Media team on all aspects of creating, delivering and expanding Cherry Red’s digital download catalogue.
  • You will also be involved with social media and updating the website.
Applicant requirements
  • Good knowledge of digital music services, new media and social media.
  • Previous experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and MS Office is desirable.
  • Good spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • An eye for design and understanding of digital files.
Academic requirements A-level and above
Salary £15,000 per annum

Role Streaming Administrator
Role description
  • Quietus Management is an artist management company that looks after the careers of Simply Red/Mick Hucknall, Suede, Chrissie Hynde/Pretenders, Simple Minds, Bill Wyman and others. The company’s philosophy is to encourage artists to retain rights and control over their music.
  • The candidate will be required to immerse themselves in all aspects of music/video streaming (Youtube/Spotify etc) including research , analysis, marketing, as well as hands on experience such as uploading files.
Applicant requirements
  • Interest in all aspects of streaming and ideally have their own YouTube channel already.
  • Self – motivated and can work with direction but not constant supervision.
Academic requirements A-level and above
Salary £15,000 per annum

Role Junior Creative Technician
Role description
  • Creative Technicians are responsible for all areas of preparing the companies audio and visual assets for the digital market.
  • The role at junior level involves ingestion of assets into their in-house systems, producing metadata, research, creating compilations and albums and graphic design of artwork.
  • The role ultimately encompasses all the processes necessary to deliver releases to digital stores and services, rights management, client liaison and team management.
  • Full training of the in-house systems will be given.
Applicant requirements
  • Sound understanding of current and emerging digital entertainment stores and services.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Graphic design skills are an advantage but not essential.
Academic requirements A-level and above
Salary £15,000 per annum
