It’s once again time to take a look at some of the latest successful students that have passed through Point Blank’s doors…
Hugo Daniel Oliveira – Music Production and Sound Engineering Diploma
Hugo Oliveira is currently studying the Music Production and Sound Engineering Diploma. Since starting the course Hugo was signed to Mutants Records with his DJ/production collective Party Killers. They now have a regular DJ residency at D! Club which was awarded the best club in Switzerland at the Swiss nightclub awards earlier this year.
Hugo says “I’m really enjoying the course, the modules are really instructive. For instance, the first two, Introduction to Music Production and Music Compositionallowed me to develop my skills and improve my production which is quite important for me and my team (Party Killers). At first it was a challenge as I usually work with Ableton but now I have the opportunity to learn more about Logic X which is an amazing DAW. I really think learning this will be useful when I need to collaborate with other artists”. You can catch Hugo with his group Party Killers at the following dates below or head over to their Soundcloud page at https://soundcloud.com/party-killers.

You can also tune in every Friday on Radio FG USA for their weekly residency from 8 pm to 9 pm (GMT).
Tariq Al-Saadoon – International Music Production & Sound Engineering Diploma
Tariq Al-Saadoon is currently studying the International Music Production and Sound Engineering Diploma. After enrolling on the course, Tariq was interviewed for the BBC Radio 3 Introducing show where they also featured his track ‘Denial’(which you can hear below).
Two weeks after his BBC interview, Tariq was signed to Red Alfa Records where he is set to release 2 EPs, ‘Darktrip’ which is due out 26th May and ‘The Vanished’ which is out August 18th. As part of his Music Business – Industry Project module, Tariq started a label called Smak Records along with his classmates. He’s now set to release his latest track ‘Knowing You’ (due out June 9th) via the label with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Talking about his time at Point Blank, Tariq says “I found the courses I’ve taken this term to be extremely useful and it has taken my music production skills to the next level. The quality of music that I now produce in genres like trip-hop, house and drum & bass is always improving. This really reflects how excellent the tutors are and shows that Point Blank is the very best in the world in terms of electronic music production”.
